TESTIMONIAL

Christine’s connection to her instruments emanates into powerful connection to her students. You can feel her loving and giving vibration through every sound she makes. I partnered with Christine by first leading kundalini yoga inspired breath-work and movement. Students found stillness and calm within their bodies and minds to then receive Christine’s gracefully delivered beautiful sound bath. Students left with an increased sense of renewal and clarity as a direct result of her delivery. It is an honor to work with her as well as receive her gifts.

Christine is a classically trained coloratura soprano, living in Los Angeles. Growing up in the Philippines, her first introduction to music was through choir and musical theatre. She got a taste for world music through the Ateneo de Manila college choir, Blue Repertory Philippines, and the Burbank Chorale. She explored electronic music while working at Native Instruments in Hollywood and paired with producers in their Metapop community. Now, she records from her home studio. During lockdown, she was featured on a sci fi trilogy with Skin Vehicles and Blueshift on the songs Siren’s Lament, Siren Song and Melancholia. Shortly after, she released The Elements album with them and Alessandro Loro. Together with Skylander, she released her single, Shamed.

My Creative Process

Creativity strikes me at different times. I’ll be driving, hear a beautiful electronic song and find myself singing a tune along to it. I’ll take my phone out and record a verse, then revisit it later.

I’ll be singing in the shower and realize a verse I’ve sung is quite catchy, go grab my phone, and get it recorded before it escapes me.

Some days I journal how I’m feeling, and then the words turn into song lyrics.

The key for me is to let myself explore sounds and words, revisiting parts I’ve started and growing them into a song.

Sometimes, I’ll happen upon someone’s instrumental composition and find it a great match for lyrics I’ve already written. I reach to the composer to collaborate. I always have fun with it.

You never know where a simple phrase/tune can lead to. Keep creating!

My sOUND

I would describe my sound as trip hop meets classical. My vocals are operatic and sensual, paired well to electronic music (think Massive Attack or Portishead), but versatile and well suited to soundtracks. I have a background with Broadway musicals as well, and I’ve been considering exploring the horror realm, playing with a vocal styling similar to Diamanda Galas.

WHO I LIKE TO WORK WITH

My collaborators are independent musicians who produce out of their bedrooms. No egos, no complications, just creators. We share any profits from our albums evenly, and our relationships are respectful, playful and supportive.
